Jr-Beta was founded in 1961 by Dr. John W. Harris. Jr-Beta's mission is to promote the ideals of academic achievement,  character, service, and leadership among students. Beta is an academic honors program.

Jr-Beta has four pillars which are achievement, character, leadership and service.
